I’m excited that the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the Holy See appointed me preside of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome. As such, I will be serving as rector (preside) of the Vatican’s University of Music, located in the Pontifical Abbey of St Jerome-in-the-City. Its central concert venue is in via di S. Agostino near Piazza Navona.
The Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (PIMS) trains church musicians and teachers of sacred music, rendering a service to the local Churches throughout the world. It offers a wide range of courses and degrees and currently has around 200 students from 42 nations.
It is from the bottom of my heart that I thank my Dominican community, the wonderful musicians I’m blessed to work with, and my colleagues at the University of Music and Theatre of the last 11 intense and fruitful years here in Munich. I’m looking forward to serving this prestigious institution of sacred music in the heart of the church.
Sono lieto di annunciare che il Dicastero per la Cultura e l’Educazione della Santa Sede mi ha nominato preside del Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra a Roma. In quanto tale, sarò preside dell’Università di Musica del Vaticano, situata nella Pontificia Abbazia di San Gerolamo in Città. La sala accademica si trova in via di S. Agostino, vicino a Piazza Navona.
Il Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra (PIMS) forma musicisti e insegnanti di musica sacra, rendendo un servizio alle Chiese locali di tutto il mondo. Offre una vasta gamma di corsi e diplomi e attualmente conta circa 200 studenti provenienti da 42 nazioni.
È dal profondo del cuore che ringrazio la mia comunità domenicana e i miei meravigliosi colleghi dell’Università della Musica e del Teatro per gli ultimi 11 intensi e fruttuosi anni qui a Monaco, e non vedo l’ora di servire questa prestigiosa istituzione di musica sacra nel cuore della Chiesa.
Ich freue mich über die Ernennung zum Präsidenten des Päpstlichen Instituts für Kirchenmusik (Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra) in Rom durch das Dikasterium für die Kultur und die Bildung des Heiligen Stuhls. In dieser Funktion werde ich die Musikuniversität des Vatikans leiten, die sich in der Päpstlichen Abtei St. Jerome-in-the-City befindet. Ihr Konzertsaal befindet sich in der Via di S. Agostino in der Nähe der Piazza Navona.
Das Päpstliche Institut für Kirchenmusik (PIMS) bildet Kirchenmusiker und Lehrer für Kirchenmusik aus und leistet damit einen Dienst an den Ortskirchen in aller Welt. Es bietet eine breite Palette von Kursen und Abschlüssen an und hat derzeit etwa 200 Studenten aus 42 Nationen.
Der Theatinerkirche in München bleibe ich im Rahmen der Möglichkeiten als leitender Kirchenmusiker erhalten.
Ich danke meinen Mitbrüdern an der Theatinerkirche, den wunderbaren Musikern mit denen ich arbeiten darf und meinen Kolleginnen und Kollegen an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater von ganzem Herzen für die letzten 11 intensiven und fruchtbaren Jahre hier in München und freue mich auf die neue Aufgabe in Rom.
